Why do I need insurance to sell my soap and candles?
Product Liability protects you from claims made against you as the manufacturer & seller of your product.
If a customer who has purchased your product has an adverse reaction a claim can be made against you with the possible risk of litigation. If the insurance is not in place, your business is at risk.
Will my home insurance cover me?
Your personal Home & Contents Liability Insurance is specific cover for your home only, and does not cover your business ventures, including the production & selling of any product. It is necessary to have a separate Liability policy in place for your business.
My business is only small do I need insurance?
If you are starting out, producing the product part time or earning a small income, you are still at risk. Whether you are selling or giving away to family and friends a claim can still be made for medical costs or property damage if your product has caused a loss.
Do I need a company name in place?
Many people who run a small part time business do have a Business Name which identifies the product they are selling. However it is also acceptable if you are trading under your own individual name.
How long does the policy run?
The policy runs for a 12 month period. We will contact you prior to the renewal date to ask how the business has performed over that period. We are unable to offer shorter periods of cover.
